Anil Agarwal Foundation

Anil Agarwal Foundation (AAF) is the social impact arm of natural resources conglomerate Vedanta. AAF’s community & social initiatives largely focus on Women & Child Development, Animal Welfare, Healthcare and Sports Development with a vision of “Empowering communities, transforming lives, and facilitating nation- building through sustainable and inclusive growth”. In this pursuit, AAF has pledged INR 5,000 Cr over five years towards India’s socioeconomic development.

The Foundation is the umbrella entity that houses Vedanta’s marquee social impact projects such as Nand Ghar, The Animal Care Organisation (TACO), Balco Medical Center (BMC), sports and all CSR projects undertaken by Vedanta’s 17 business units.

Teaching nutrition to children

Project Nand Ghar, is a transformative initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Women & Child Development to strengthen the Anganwadi ecosystem delivering high impact services through Health, Education, Nutrition and Skilling. Operating over 6100 centres in 14 states, Nand Ghar aims to improve the lives of 7 Cr children and 2 Cr women across 13.7 Lac Anganwadi centres in India.

AAF’s animal welfare initiative, The Animal Care Organisation (TACO), has set out to provide world-class infrastructure, veterinary services, training facilities, and shelters to establish a sustainable and scalable ecosystem for animal welfare through collaborations with renowned institutions. The shelter is presently home to 162 animals and has also treated more than 62,000 animals over 2 years.

Balco Medical Centre (BMC), a 170 bedded state-of-the-art tertiary care Oncology facility in Raipur, Chhattisgarh is fast emerging as a national leader in India’s oncology space including medical, surgical, radiation, haematological and palliative care.

Additionally, AAF emphasises sports initiatives to build world-class training infrastructure and promote grassroots-level sports such as football, archery, karate and para-athletics to encourage youth to compete globally. Championing the cause of #RunForZeroHunger and to promote fitness, in the last two years of Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, for every kilometre run, Vedanta pledged to provide a meal to a child in need of better nourishment and has raised 7 million meals.

Each year, the Foundation has been touching the lives of almost 45 million people across 1300 villages in India; and has been working towards strengthening rural communities through a sustainable and inclusive growth model.

The foundation regularly collaborates with corporates, social entrepreneurs, and the government on various projects, including those with the American India Foundation (AIF), Mamta Health Institute for Mother and Child (MAMTA HIMC), Humana People to People India (HPPI), Sesame Workshop India, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Indian Cancer Society, and many others.
